1. SYF works as an umbrella organisation for most Somali youth groups actively working with young people in Birmingham and also acts as a voice for other Somali groups Woking in United Kingdom.

2. SYF has a comprehensive information about living (where to look for accommodation) about studying (vocational education, web-based studying, courses etc), about hobbies sports and travelling aboard) about (looking for employment) and about health and well-being of young people.

3. SYF is an information centre located close to the city centre of Birmingham namely Small Heath. SYF offers both information and guidance for young people.

4. SYF has integration project which strives to empower young immigrants. The target groups are mainly 13-24 old young people at risk. SYF is open to all these young people, but special attention is paid to the needs of young immigrants.
